So, of course I am a strong believer of self-love, self-respect, self- awareness, however I have an urge to pull the brake! Yes, yes please learn to love yourself, it is indeed of utmost importance. The reason, however is not to become self-indulged, self- centered; the reason is not so that your life is all about ME ME ME!
In this world we are mostly lacking EMPATHY, both empathy towards ourselves and others. Loving yourself means: show yourself some empathy, acknowledge your strong points and embrace your areas of development. Beautiful, necessary, healthy but not enough. How about the people around you? Sacrificing a bit of your time, or your money, or your knowledge, or your love, or your energy in order to make someone happy is not wrong or criminal; it does not mean that you have become passive … it means the you are nice, human, caring… and these are behaviors that are becoming more and more scarce.
Among the many interesting insights that COVID-19 has brought to light is the lack of love we have for each other, the lack of care we have for each other, the lack of empathy we have for each other.
